Learn the Proven PIZZA Secret

Simple to use ingredients add exceptional flavor even for a take and bake or frozen pizza.

     

     This was the Rusty Nail, home of "da besta pizza in da uppa U.S.". Located at the end of a gravel road in northwester Wisconsin, right in the "the middle of knowhere", the Nail was a family tavern/restaurant popular with the locals, tourists and summer residents.

     In this oversized log cabin we offered some rather unusual fare such as deep fried parsnips and the Hulk, our famous three napkin sandwich!  Sunday spaghetti feeds were always a big hit . There was more, burgers, fries, fish,  deep fried mushrooms& cauliflower, breaded kosher pickels and more.. Breaded or broiled shrimp, peel and eat rock shrimp, cod, fish boils, pita pockets,  tacos, snow crab, king crab, shell fish, ribs, big brandied T-bones and New York Strips 
   
For a trip around the world we offered up to 135 imported beers and 2 German beers on tap and lots of domestic beer. Ice cream drinks were popular. But it was the  PIZZA SECRETS that kept folks returning  Costumers and friends continue to request the secret to our pizzas as well as recipes for other popular menu items.


      Hungry yet?       Gotta be,   That description made my mouth water.

     The secret to the Rusty Nail  pizza will be found in the report, near the end of coarse. For starters, how about a small sample, sharing some of the easiest, great tasting recipes from our menu.  

Peel and eat Shrimp
Bring a qt. of water to a low boil
Add 2 heaping Tbsp. of OLD BAY SEASONING to the pot

(Google Old Bay Seasoning for substitutes)
Add 1 pound of uncooked shrimp, regular or rock shrimp This served by the pound
Rock shrimp has a hard shell and is saltier but oh so good.
The shrimp cook rapidly and are done when they turn salmon color and begin to float. Overcooked shrimp will be tough.

Broiled or grilled  precooked shrimp in the shell

Thaw shrimp in a steel bowl.  Drain water  and sprinkle chili powder to cover the top layer moderately, then mix lightly so as not to break up shell and then let set for 5 minutes. Grill or broil to taste (the shells look loose). The powder adds a little tang, You may not need the cocktail sauce.

To ½ cup of ketchup add 1tbsp of horseradish (not horseradish sauce) and ½ to 1tsp. lemon juice, plus a little Worcestershire sauce. (about an 1/8 tsp.) If that’s too spicy for your taste just add more ketchup. Works with fish also.  

Need a tsngy salad dressing? Mix a quality horshradish, not creamy, in french or ranch dressing to taste.

 Another tip: sprinkle tarragon on fish, lightly oiled or buttered before frying,or bakeing or add to breading.  Crush the dry terragon in your palm and sprinkle liberally on the fish. adds a distintive new taste.

Sprinkle Chili Powder and granulated garlic on burgers when grilling. A new twist., Great taste.
